Travel Grants
We support students attending conferences by providing approved applicants with up to a $250 stipend in a given academic year.
Advocacy
Making a serious commitment to this role last year, the SEC acts as an advocate for the Pitt Social Work community, breathing life into social work values.
Business Card Mini-Grants
Starting in the Fall of 2018, the SEC will provide mini-grants for students to buy business cards for the use at conferences and in the field.
Student Organizations
The SEC helped kickstart and assists in the funding of two student-run organizations, Mary's Meals and Students United for Policy Change (SUPC).
Social Events
The SEC hosts various social and networking events for MSW students including paint nights, "Meet the Dean" lunch, and happy hours.
Personal Development and Self-Care
Having previously hosted events in this focus area, the SEC plans to strengthen the depth and breadth of this specific of programming.
Peer Support
The SEC Officers now offer peer support to students at their academic, field, or administrative corrective action meetings.
December Graduation
The SEC is the sole organizer and funder of the December Graduation Ceremony.
Leadership
The SEC gives students the opportunity to participate in leadership positions as an elected board member or a volunteer committee person. Contact pitt.sec@gmail.com to get involved.
