Monica Henderson

Program and Outreach Coordinator, Race and Youth Development Research Group (RaYDR)

Monica Henderson (she/her) is the program and outreach coordinator for the Race and Youth Development Research Group (RaYDR) under the Center for Race and Social Problems (CRSP). A health justice scholar, her work centers on child life outcomes and racial equity, focusing on Black youth. These include team projects on racial socialization, trauma-informed support, and school discipline experiences. Other work includes examining Black hair politics as a public health concern and continuing to do work around afro-textured hair empowerment locally and nationally.

Henderson has been at the University of Pittsburgh for over 5 years. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology (BS) and minor in Sociology in 2021 and graduated with her Master in Public Health (MPH) in Community and Behavioral Health Sciences and a Certificate in Health Equity from the School of Public Health in 2022.
