We are excited to announce that Dr. Nev Jones will be the featured speaker at The National Institute of Mental Health’s (NIMH) “Disability, Equity, and Mental Health Research Webinar Series” on August 8th from 1:00-2:30 pm EST. This webinar series is specifically hosted by NIMH’s Office for Disparities Research and Workforce Diversity and will focus on exploring the health disparities that people with disability experience. These include disparities in mental health outcomes, which can be further compounded for those with intersecting identities.
Dr. Jones’ webinar presentation will introduce a range of approaches to meaningfully integrate individuals with lived experience of psychiatric disabilities into mental health research. Dr. Jones will discuss proven methods (e.g., co-production, integration, and co-leadership) of integration and co-creation and discuss ways in which the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) research portfolio would benefit from greater emphasis on and high standards for meaningful inclusion.
