Associate Professor Sara Goodkind has been awarded the 2018 Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award. This award recognizes the considerable impact Goodkind has had on the teaching mission of the School of Social Work, as well as the Department of Sociology, and the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program. As the principal investigator on a grant from the U.S. Department of State, Goodkind is actively developing opportunities for social work undergraduates to participate in study abroad field placements in six different countries. In addition, her development of multiple courses, including Feminist Social Work, where she created an interactive course aimed at students from both clinical and macro social tracks, has had a meaningful impact not only within her own departments, but across disciplines. Chancellor Patrick Gallagher wrote: “As is evident from your very positive student and peer evaluations, which include expansive comments of praise and recognition, your commitment to teaching and creating engaging situations in and out of the classroom is deeply appreciated by your students and colleagues.
