Faculty member takes on leadership role for County Review Team

Liz Winter, Academic Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor for the Child Welfare Education for Leadership Program, was named Facilitator for the Team for the Allegheny County Child Fatality/Near Fatality (CF/NF) Review Team. The role was previously performed by Dr. Ed Sites.  The team’s purpose is to review child abuse-related cases involving death and near death to develop case practice and system reforms so as to reduce the likelihood of future fatalities or near fatalities.  This process is mandated is mandated by state legislation (Act 33, passed in 2008).  The team is comprised of DHS staff and community leaders who are well-versed in the field of child abuse. The Allegheny County CF/NF Review Team is chaired by Dr. Mary Carrasco, Director of International and Community Health for Pittsburgh Mercy Health System.Read more on the Allegheny County website.
