Gender Equity report released by Pitt researchers

A new study from Pitt School of Social Work researchers Sara Goodkind and Leah Jacobs, Department of Sociology professor Junia Howell, UPMC professor Liz Miller, and graduate student Dominique Branson shows stark disparities by race and gender in the Pittsburgh region. The "Pittsburgh's Inequality across Gender and Race" report is the first of four reports meant to help the City’s Gender Equity Commission (GEC) help identity local interventions that are likely to be most effective in helping to bridge these gaps in health, income, employment and education across gender and race groups.

The researchers appeared at a press conference with Pittsburgh mayor Bill Peduto and GEC members last week to announce the findings. Watch full press conference here.
