2024 CLARION National Case Competition

Please join me in congratulating students Natalie Schwarzwalder (SHRS – Emergency Medicine), Olivia Frey (Pharmacy), Paula Hayden-Vasquez (Nursing), Daoud Ilayan (Social Work) [L to R in photo],  in successfully representing the University of Pittsburgh at the 2024 CLARION National Case Competition. The team expertly and collaboratively prepared and presented a solution to a complex public health case involving the needs of healthcare professionals, patients and families in the nursing home setting when faced with a new and emerging pandemic. They competed and networked in-person at the University of Minnesota April 12-13 and their work received a Health Equity Innovation Award. The team’s faculty mentor was Dr. Joe Suyama (Medicine).

Pitt’s participation is sponsored by the Working Group on Interprofessional Education and the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor of the Health Sciences and the Office of Health Sciences Interdisciplinary Education.
